Park Hotel Vitznau, Lake Lucerne: Agent Guide for India | Airavata

Park Hotel Vitznau · for travel agents in India

A private lakeside hotel on Lake Lucerne, at the foot of Mount Rigi

A 1903 landmark on the Vitznau shore, with 49 suites and residences, a private lawn on the lake, its own boats, a two MICHELIN Star restaurant and six wine cellars. It runs like a private residence: the spa is for hotel guests alone, every table is reserved, and nobody simply walks in. Your clients get the lake, the mountain and a serious table, with none of the bustle of a resort.

What your clients are buying

Privacy, a serious table and the lake at the door

Park Hotel Vitznau first opened in spring 1903. After a four-year restoration it reopened in 2013 as a hotel of suites only. It feels like a private residence on the lake, not a resort: tables are reserved, the spa is for hotel guests, and the calm is the point.

Privacy

A residence, not a resort

The spa and every wellness facility belong to hotel guests alone. Restaurants and experiences are booked ahead, with no walk-ins. That is what keeps the hotel so quiet.

Rooms

Every room a suite

49 individually designed Junior Suites, Suites and Residences, each looking out over the lake or the mountains. Every floor has its own theme: Wine & Dine, Art & Culture, or Health & Wealth. A wine lover can sleep on a floor themed around the table.

Table

Dinner, then the cellar

focus ATELIER holds two MICHELIN Stars and 18 GaultMillau points. Alongside it, six cellars hold a Château d'Yquem collection with every vintage from 1890 to today. A food lover could plan the whole trip around the two.

Setting

The lake at the lawn, Rigi at the door

A private lawn runs down to the water, and the hotel keeps its own boats. In the village, Europe's first mountain railway, opened in 1871, climbs to the Rigi summit. One stay gives your clients both the lake and the mountain.

Suites and residences

Three categories, each suite named and themed

There are no standard rooms here. Every suite has a name, a view of the lake or the mountains, and a place in a themed gallery, from Château d'Yquem to the Vienna Philharmonic. Your clients are not booking a room type; they are booking a suite with a story. The hotel does not publish nightly rates, so we quote live for your dates.

How to read the ratesNightly suite rates are not published, so we quote live, per suite per night. The only published rates are for set stays, priced for the whole stay in the suite you choose, with treatments for two guests. The hotel does not state how many nights the La Prairie stay covers, so we confirm it with the quote.

The lake and Rigi

On the water by morning, on the summit by lunch

The hotel sits on Vitznau Bay, with its own lawn running down to the water. The Rigi cogwheel railway leaves from the village, so your clients can reach the summit without getting into a car.

The lake as a private garden

Mornings begin on the sunbathing lawn, a few steps from the water. When your clients want more of the lake, the hotel's three boats take them out, with a skipper or with your clients at the wheel.

  • Boesch Costa Brava: classic wooden sports boat, up to five guests plus skipper
  • Sun Chaser: 150 hp, up to eleven guests plus skipper
  • Pontoon boat: self-drive, up to ten guests
  • Hotel ship to Lucerne in about 30 minutes, at extra charge
  • The hotel's own grass tennis court, for hotel guests

Europe's first mountain railway, from the village

The cogwheel train has climbed from Vitznau since 1871, the first mountain railway in Europe. About 30 minutes later your clients are on Rigi Kulm, in summer or in snow.

  • Summer: about 120 km of trails, and Rigiland at Rigi Kaltbad with a playground, mini golf and a Kneipp pond
  • Winter: 5 ski lifts with about 14 km of slopes, a 6 km sledge run, a 13 km cross-country trail and over 30 km of winter walking trails
  • The hotel also recommends outings to Pilatus, Stoos, Lucerne's Chapel Bridge and the Swiss Museum of Transport
Heated outdoor infinity pool with loungers looking over Lake Lucerne

Heat, ice and the lake

The centrepiece is a heated outdoor infinity pool, 21.7 by 9.6 metres, that seems to run straight into the lake. Around it: a Finnish sauna, sanarium and steam bath for heat, an ice grotto at minus 10 °C for the cold, indoor and outdoor whirlpools and a 24-hour gym. Treatments use La Prairie products, and the spa is for hotel guests only.

Private Spa Suite with two massage tables and a whirlpool

A spa of their own, for two

The Private Spa Suite has its own sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and two massage tables, behind one closed door. The anniversary afternoon for a couple who would rather not share. CHF 400 for two hours, then CHF 150 for each additional hour.

Who it suits, and what to know before you quote

The practical points that shape a quote: seasons, cancellation, children and visas.

When the hotel is open

Park Hotel Vitznau closes each winter for refurbishment, from early January to early March. No stays are possible in that window, so check dates before quoting January, February or early March.

JanFebMarAprMayJunJulAugSepOctNovDec
Open and bookableClosed for annual refurbishment, no stays possible

Strong fit

  • Couples and honeymooners who would rather have privacy than a busy resort: a suite, a skippered boat and a table by the lake.
  • Food and wine travellers, who can give three evenings to two MICHELIN Stars, the Chef's Table and the open-fire grill, and an afternoon to one of five cellar tours.
  • Guests who want the lake one day and the mountain the next, without changing hotels. Rigi, Lucerne and Pilatus are all within easy reach.
  • Families who want space: residences have separate sleeping areas, and children of any age are welcome.
  • Small celebrations on the lake lawn and, from 2027, weddings of 20 to 60 guests, outside June to August.

Think twice

  • Guests who want to walk into a restaurant or the spa on a whim. Everything is by reservation.
  • Travellers looking for a lively scene or nightlife. The hotel runs quietly, like a private residence.
  • Summer weddings. The hotel does not host weddings in June, July or August.
  • Guests travelling with pets. Pets are not permitted anywhere in the hotel, with assistance dogs by request.
