What your clients are buying

Privacy, a serious table, a famous cellar, a central address

Palais Coburg is a five-star hotel of suites only, run with the discretion of a private residence. Every restaurant table is reserved in advance and there are no walk-ins. In the middle of Vienna, your clients come home to a quiet palace.

The stay

A palace without standard rooms

36 suites, each named after a member of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and styled Royal, Classic or Modern. Your clients sleep in Victoria or Ferdinand, not in room 204. Most of the suites the hotel details have a kitchen or kitchenette, and eight sit on two levels.

The table

Two stars, then the state rooms

Silvio Nickol holds two stars in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide Austria and five Gault&Millau toques. For the easier days, the historic state rooms serve brunch, afternoon tea and dinner every day, under restored stucco ceilings.

The cellar

Four centuries of wine

Six vaulted cellars under the old city walls hold more than 60,000 bottles and over 5,000 different wines, the oldest from 1727. The wine list holds Wine Spectator's Grand Award, and your clients can walk the cellars with the sommelier before dinner.

The address

Walk out to the Old Town

The palace stands on a 16th-century fortification in the 1st District, beside the Ringstrasse and the Stadtpark. St. Stephen's Cathedral is about nine minutes on foot, and the opera and concert halls are within walking distance.

Longer stays. The hotel's current offer reads: "Book four nights and we'll treat you to a free night at the Palais Coburg." We confirm dates and conditions with every quote.

  • Rathausplatz: 13 Nov to 26 Dec, with an ice rink to 6 Jan
  • Am Hof: 13 Nov to 23 Dec. Freyung: 14 Nov to 23 Dec

A palace that kept its walls

When Emperor Franz Joseph I ordered the city walls demolished in 1857 to make way for the Ringstrasse, Palais Coburg was one of the few buildings left standing on its original fortifications. Because the palace was built early, the Renaissance casemates beneath it survived. Today they hold the wine cellars and event spaces such as the High Casemate. The free-standing columns of the façade earned the building its Viennese nickname, "Spargelburg", the Asparagus Castle.
