Nyne Hotels Sri Lanka: Boutique Hotels and Villas Guide for India | Airavata

Nyne Hotels · for travel agents in India

Boutique Sri Lankan hotels and villas, some your clients can take whole

Eight boutique hotels and villas: a city lodge in Colombo, beach hotels at Bentota, a bungalow inside the ramparts of Galle Fort, jungle villas near Yala and a planter’s bungalow in the tea hills. Every one is hung with contemporary Sri Lankan art. A family or group can take Rock Villa or Stafford Bungalow entirely for themselves, and each of Mayur Lodge’s two villas is booked privately.

What your clients are buying

Boutique, full of art, and quietly attentive

Nayantara "Taru" Fonseka founded Nyne Hotels and chairs the group. Airavata represents it in India. Four things set its hotels apart, and each takes a single sentence to pass on to your clients.

Scale

Never lost in a crowd

Lake Lodge has just 10 rooms. Landesi has four bedrooms, and Stafford Bungalow six rooms and suites. Mayur Lodge is simply two private villas. At this scale, your clients share the place with a handful of other guests, never a crowd.

Art

A gallery to sleep in

Every property doubles as a small gallery of contemporary Sri Lankan art. Rock Villa alone holds more than 90 works by local artists. At Landesi, lithographs by Donald Friend hang among Dutch period furniture. For clients who love art, the walk to breakfast becomes part of the stay.

Heritage

Sleep inside the story

Rock Villa is a Walauwwa, an ancestral heritage home. Landesi, inside Galle Fort, was restored by architect Ashley de Vos. Lake Lodge has been a registered guest lodging in Colombo since 1967, the first of its kind in Sri Lanka. Stafford Bungalow was built by Scottish tea planters in 1884. Each has a past your clients can feel, and a story worth retelling at home.

Service

Service that waits to be called

At Rock Villa, The Muse, Landesi and Mayur Lodge, brass swan bells sit in the public areas. Ring one, and the "Guardian" appears. Nyne calls this its shadow butler service: attention when your clients want it, privacy when they do not.

Who to place where

Match the occasion to the property

Start with what your client is celebrating or looking for. You’ll see which Nyne properties fit, why they work, and what to check before you quote.

Where they are

Five places, from Colombo to the tea hills

Four of the eight sit together in Bentota on the southwest coast. The other four make natural next stops: Colombo for the first night, Galle Fort for heritage, Yala for safari and Ragala for the cool air of the tea country.

The Nyne collection

Nyne groups its properties into three collections: Essence, Signature and Luxe. Nyne does not publish star ratings, and rates are quoted live.

Every room category

All 26 room, suite and villa types

Every category each property publishes, with size, occupancy and beds exactly as the hotel states them. Where a hotel leaves a figure out, so do we. All photographs are the hotels’ own.

Every Nyne room page lists Wi-Fi, air conditioning, television, tea and coffee, and a private bathroom. Room sizes appear in square feet for the Nyne hotels and in square metres for Stafford Bungalow, as each publishes them.

Getting there, seasons and what to know

Sri Lanka is a short hop from India, and its two monsoons decide which coast to sell in which months.

Getting there

From India

Nine Indian cities, as listed by SriLankan Airlines on its route network to Colombo:

DelhiMumbaiBengaluruChennaiHyderabadKochiThiruvananthapuramTiruchirappalliMadurai
  • IndiGo started direct Delhi to Colombo flights on 29 March 2026, six a week, adding to its Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai services.
  • SriLankan's daytime Bengaluru flight was scheduled at 1 hour 30 minutes when it launched.
  • In a straight line, Colombo airport is about 650 km from Chennai, 710 km from Bengaluru, 1,530 km from Mumbai and 2,400 km from Delhi.
  • Schedules change by season. We confirm the current flight options with every quote.

On the ground

  • Bentota: Anuprit and Anugrah are under two hours from Colombo and the international airport by the Southern Expressway. Nyne puts Anugrah 90 minutes from Colombo.
  • Galle Fort: Landesi is about an hour's drive from whale watching at Mirissa.
  • Yala: Mayur Lodge is twenty minutes from Yala National Park.
  • Tea country: Stafford Bungalow is about 5 hours by road from Colombo, about 2 hours from Kandy and about 35 minutes from Nuwara Eliya town. The train takes just over six hours to Nanu Oya, followed by about 50 minutes by car.
  • Nyne arranges airport transfers for guests arriving from abroad.

When to go by coast

Sri Lanka Tourism describes two monsoons and four seasons. Every Nyne beach hotel is on the southwest coast, so the northeast monsoon months, December to February, are their high season.

Best time Transitional, showers Monsoon rain Park blocks closed in 2026

Stafford Bungalow reports July to September as usually dry on its side of the hills.

December to February

Northeast monsoon

Peak season on the southwest coast. Clear skies and calm seas bring the beaches, whale watching and watersports into their own. This is the time to sell Bentota, Galle and Colombo.

March to April

First inter-monsoon

Warm and humid with afternoon thunderstorms. Sri Lanka Tourism recommends it for the hill country and the cultural triangle.

May to September

Southwest monsoon

Heavy rain falls on the southwest coast and in the hills. The dry zone, including Trincomalee, Arugam Bay and Jaffna, has the better weather, though Nyne has no hotel in any of the three. In these months, sell Mayur Lodge near Yala, in the dry southeast, and check the park’s status for September and October.

October to November

Second inter-monsoon

Expect occasional heavy showers across the island and rough seas. The highlands turn lush and green, and Stafford Bungalow notes mist drifting over the hills in these months.

Strong fit

  • Multi-generational families who want a place to themselves: Rock Villa’s Whole Villa for up to 16 adults on the coast, or Stafford Bungalow’s Full Bungalow for up to 17 guests in the tea hills.
  • Small family celebrations, birthdays and anniversaries at Anuprit, Rock Villa or The Muse.
  • Beachfront weddings: Anugrah hosts up to 150 guests on the sand.
  • Couples who want privacy: The Muse's room with a private outdoor jacuzzi, or a Junior Suite at Anugrah or Anuprit.
  • Safari add-ons: Mayur Lodge’s two private villas, twenty minutes from Yala.
  • A full Sri Lanka circuit with one hotel group: city, beach, fort, jungle and tea country, from Colombo to Bentota, Galle Fort, Yala and Ragala.

Think twice

  • Clients who want a large resort with many restaurants and a kids’ club. These are boutique hotels and villas, and their appeal is intimacy rather than scale.
  • Beach-led trips to Bentota or Galle from May to September, when the southwest monsoon brings heavy rain.
  • Weddings above 150 guests. That is the largest number Nyne states, at Anugrah.
  • Guests who expect to step from the room onto the sand at The Muse or Rock Villa. A single-line railway track runs between the gardens and the beach.
  • Guests who need a Halal-certified kitchen. Nyne states its food is not Halal certified.
  • A one-night tea-country stop. Stafford Bungalow is about 5 hours by road from Colombo, and the Full Bungalow needs two nights.
  • Wheelchair users, unless we have checked first. Nyne states that wheelchair access is limited at certain properties.
Sri Lanka ETA: free for Indian passport holdersFrom 25 May 2026, Indian nationals get a free tourist ETA valid for 30 days with double entry. Every traveller must still obtain the ETA before arrival, at eta.gov.lk. Stays beyond 30 days need a paid extension.
Check-in and check-outCheck-in is at 3 pm and check-out at 11 am across the Nyne hotels. Stafford Bungalow checks in from 2 pm and out by 11 am. Ask us about early arrival or late departure.
ChildrenAll Nyne properties welcome children. Children aged 12 and over pay the adult rate, and guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
FoodNyne asks about allergies before arrival and says it does not mix cookware. Its food is not Halal certified. Send every dietary requirement with your enquiry and we will confirm it with the hotel.
Property rulesNo pets. No smoking in rooms. Free Wi-Fi at every property.
Yala National ParkIn 2026 the Department of Wildlife Conservation closed Blocks 1 and 2 from 14 September to 15 October because of dry weather. We check the park's status for your dates.
Anugrah and Anuprit are neighboursTable by Nyne, The Beach is at Anuprit, steps from Anugrah, and is open to walk-in guests. Anugrah also serves breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel.
RatesNyne does not publish rates on its website. We quote live rates and inclusions for your dates and room mix.
