What your clients are buying

Space, a serious table, and two full seasons

The Chedi Andermatt opened in 2013 among the chalets of a working Alpine village. Inside, Alpine wood and stone meet Asian calm, and the hotel states that it holds Forbes Travel Guide's top rating for 2026.

The room

A fireplace in every room

Even the entry rooms are 55 m². Each has its own fireplace, a private balcony, a soaking tub and a Hästens bed, and two-thirds of the hotel's rooms are suites. Your clients come in from the snow to a fire of their own.

The table

Japanese, at two altitudes

In the village, The Japanese holds two Michelin stars and 18 GaultMillau points. Up the mountain, its sister restaurant, The Japanese at Gütsch, holds a star of its own.

The year

Two holidays, one hotel

In winter, 180 km of slopes across Andermatt, Sedrun and Disentis. In summer, an 18-hole golf course, hiking and the high Alpine passes. The same suite, a different trip.

The journey

An easy 90 minutes from Zurich

The hotel is about 90 minutes by car from Zurich Airport, and Andermatt station, a stop on the Glacier Express, is within walking distance.

Rooms and suites

Nine categories, every one with a fireplace

Sizes, occupancy and views are as the hotel lists them, and unit counts are from its 2026 factsheet. Every room and suite has Hästens beds, a fireplace, a private balcony, iPad room controls, a Bose sound system and a complimentary non-alcoholic minibar, replenished once a day. The Chedi does not publish "from" rates on its website, so we show sample rates from its own booking engine below.

Sample rates from the hotel's booking engine

These rates were read from the hotel's booking engine on 28 Oct 2026, for 2 adults and two nights, and we re-check them with every quote. Totals are per room for the whole stay and include taxes and fees as the booking engine displays them. On the hotel's booking engine, both rates include The Chedi Grand Breakfast Buffet. Rates move daily with demand, so treat these as a guide only.

How to read the ratesEvery rate here is per room, for 2 adults, with The Chedi Grand Breakfast Buffet, taxes and fees included, as the booking engine shows them. The first two columns are the total for the two-night stay. The last column is the same flexible total divided by two nights.

Dining

Michelin-starred Japanese, in the village and on the mountain

Eight restaurants and bars, and 49 GaultMillau points across the hotel's three restaurants. Twin chefs Dominik Sato and Fabio Toffolon lead both Japanese kitchens, one in the village and one above 2,300 m. Tell the chefs about vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free diets in advance and they will cater for them.

Winter or summer

Two different holidays from one hotel

Skiers in January, golfers and drivers in July: the same hotel, two different holidays. The concierge arranges everything below, and the popular activities are worth booking before your clients arrive.

When the hotel is open

The Chedi closes every year after the winter season, for about six weeks of refurbishment. No stays are possible in that window, so check dates before you quote April or May.

Summer

The hotel calls June to August the sunniest months, while October suits cool treks and rides.

Summer driving

Four passes in a day

The hotel calls Andermatt one of Switzerland's most spectacular starting points for scenic drives. It hands your clients a road book and can put them in its old-timer Morgan, a supercar through a partner, or a Land Rover Defender with a driver.

  1. Over the Alps. 120 km over the Furka, Grimsel, Nufenen and Gotthard passes, past Hotel Belvédère.
  2. Over the Alps Vol. 2. 160 km over the Oberalp and Lukmanier passes into Ticino, returning over the Gotthard.
  3. Hills and lakes. A full day over the Furka and Grimsel to Interlaken, Lake Brienz, Lake Thun and Lucerne.

Meetings and events

Rooms for a board meeting, a launch or a wedding of 250

The Chedi suits smaller, high-end groups: a boardroom for 16, two joinable seminar rooms for up to 180 seated, and private dining. For larger numbers, Radisson Blu Hotel Reussen, a short walk away in Andermatt Reuss, has six meeting rooms and a concert hall for up to 700. The Chedi's brochures label theatre as "concert", classroom as "seminar" and boardroom as "conference". Gotthard and Oberalp sit in The Chedi Residences building. *The Chedi's capacity chart shows 280 for a reception across both rooms, but its venue pages give 250 as the maximum for events, so we quote 250. Radisson's banquet figures are its "rounds" set-up; it also lists cabaret: Altdorf 42, Bürglen and Schattdorf 18, Seedorf 12, Concert Hall 240. Altdorf joins Bürglen and Schattdorf for 240 m², or one of them for 191 m²; the hotel does not publish capacities for these combinations.

More spaces at The Chedi

Plan a stay

How long, who for, and what to know

The hotel's own stays are built around two nights. Three to four nights give your clients time to ski or drive the passes and still book The Japanese, which is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. In winter, the same applies to The Japanese at Gütsch, and we confirm its seasonal opening with the hotel.

Strong fit

  • Families who want space: suites up to 223 m² with two bathrooms and a kitchenette, a winter Kids Club and babysitting.
  • Couples who plan around dinner: two Michelin-starred restaurants and a two-night stay that includes a five-course tasting at The Japanese.
  • Skiers of mixed ability: gentle runs at Nätschen-Gütsch, expert terrain on Gemsstock, and a ski butler.
  • Summer road-trippers and golfers: four passes in a day, and a championship course open May to October.
  • Clients adding Switzerland to an Italy trip: Milan Malpensa is about two hours away.
  • Incentive groups and weddings: five venues, with the Gotthard and Oberalp rooms seating up to 180 theatre-style or for a banquet.

Think twice

  • Clients who are uneasy with mixed saunas. The saunas and steam rooms are mixed-gender and can be used with or without swimwear.
  • Short stays that fall on Monday and Tuesday nights, if The Japanese is the reason for the trip.
  • Golf or pass drives outside summer. The course opens May to October, and pass roads depend on conditions.
  • Teenagers who want the gym. The Health Club is for guests aged 16 and over.
Schengen visaSwitzerland issues Schengen visas. Indian passport holders apply through VFS Global, and the Embassy in New Delhi processes all applications from India. Apply no earlier than 6 months before entry. Allow 10 to 15 working days after submission.
Check-in and check-outCheck-in from 3 pm, check-out by 12 noon. Early check-in and late check-out are subject to availability.
BreakfastBreakfast is included on the hotel's flexible and prepaid rates. For DMC and trade rates we confirm board with every quote.
Currency and tippingBills are in Swiss francs. A service charge is included in Swiss bills by law, and tipping is at the guest's discretion.
ParkingValet parking is CHF 30 per night for hotel guests, and there is electric vehicle charging on site.
Dress codesNo sportswear at breakfast or lunch in The Restaurant. Smart casual at dinner, elegant at The Japanese, and no shorts in the evening.
WeatherWinter days average −5 °C to −10 °C in the village. Pack for snow and altitude.
